8th Grade Information
4 Year Plans for 8th Graders
Course Requests
8th graders have completed their 4 year plans with the counselors. Please view the course selections via Xello that is located on their Chromebook and email Ms. James if you would like changes to 9th grade. Students will receive a copy of their 4 year plan and a purple endorsement book. High School Counselors are coming to visit with our 8 graders to answer any questions that they may have.
DEADLINE
No schedule changes after April 1, 2026. Please make sure that you approve the courses for 9th grade. Parent approval forms will be sent out March 17 - March 24, 2026.
Athletics
Students can select a sport that they would like to play in High School. If the sport has try-outs, cuts will be made if the student does not make the team. He/she will be placed into PE.
REMINDERS
1. April 1, 2026 - Last day to make changes
2. High School Counselors will not change electives after the deadline.
3. Students will meet with their High School Counselor every year to discuss 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.
4.Summer School information will be provided in late April.
5. College Academy applications will be disseminated by the District in May.

For 8th Grade Ravens who will attend Cy-Ranch High School next school year as a Freshman, there will be a meeting for parents and students on Monday, November 10. The meeting will begin at 5:30 - 6:00 pm followed by a curriculum fair from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

College Academy
The College Academy housed at each high school campus is a district-wide program for students interested in fulfilling their ‘Foundation and Graduation Endorsement’ requirements while simultaneously completing an Associate degree. This course of study includes dual credit courses offered by Cypress Fairbanks ISD in partnership with Lone Star College CyFair and focuses on preparing students with the skills and knowledge to complete a 2-year degree or apply coursework to a 4-year college or university.
Applications are accepted during the 4th Grading period of 8th grade and close on the last day of school.
Only current CFISD 8th grade students may apply. (Students must attend a CFISD school in 8th grade during the Spring to apply)
The applicant must meet the requirements for promotion to 9th grade, have Algebra I (or Geometry) credit with an average of 80+ and have completed K-level/HORIZONS 8th grade English language arts with an average of 80+, including ESL 8 ADV.
